Diny Harrison
Diny Harrison was born in Toronto in 1958. She attended extracurriculum art classes at the Art Gallery of Ontario for 3 years, as well as attended a graphic arts program at Northern Technical School. Love of mountains and art took her to Calgary, Alberta where she studied at the Alberta College of Art. While in Calgary the call of the mountain air lured her away from art studies and into the world of ski patrol and avalanche control activities at Lake Louise. During this time she had an art studio in Field BC, later in Lake Louise and was founder of the Field Arts Festival. The professional mountain life took over and in 1992 she became the first woman in North America to successfully obtain International Moutain Guide Certification. So began a career of worldwide mountain guiding, helicopter skiing and travel. At the height of her guiding career she was board member/president of the Canadian Avalanche Association, later president of the Canadian Mountain Guides Association and assistant manager for Canadian Mountain Holidays Revelstoke Heliskiing operation. Now a fanatic kiteboarder she divides her time in Baja California, Mexico in the winter months and on a sailboat in Sardenia, Itlay, with her partner Rupert Bodenmiller, running kite and sail charters in summer. Of late artistic endeavours are more of a personal kind with drawing and sketching, however a return to the creative world becomes imminent.
